Icelandic success for Derby team
Building craftsmen from Derby have played a key role in the refurbishment of an Icelandic factory and distribution centre which made sporting headlines 15 years ago when it was first opened by the legendary George Best.
The team from Hodgkinson Builders (Midlands) Ltd in Pride Park led by managing director Ian Hodgkinson carried out alterations at the Reykjavik factory and distribution centre of international sports businessman Halldor Henson.
The project involved the creation of a modern display area for Halldor's extensive collection of sports clothing and sporting memorabilia, which includes a much-prized plaster cast of George Best's famous feet.
The makeover proved such a success that the Hodgkinson team has been invited to undertake a number of other building projects in the Icelandic capital.
“We had worked in Iceland before and are now pretty well-known there but it's still very rewarding to know that your company's skills are recognised and appreciated,” said Ian.
