Construction started on Fletton Quays last year. Hodgkinson’s built the brickwork to the Civic Building which will be brand new Council Officers.
Regenerating an area of Peterborough which has been largely derelict since the 1970s, the development will also include high-quality new homes, office accommodation, a hotel, restaurant, leisure and retail facilities with outstanding views across the River Nene.
Councillor John Holdich, Leader of Peterborough City Council, said: “This is a really exciting time for the project as work is well underway on both the office accommodation and apartments on the site. Fletton Quays is really starting to take shape.”
This project is a joint venture formed by Peterborough City Council and the GB Strategic Land Fund which aims to support the sustained growth and development of local communities across the city by creating new jobs, retail, housing and leisure facilities.
Its first project is Fletton Quays, a £120 million development which will create a vibrant extension to the city centre. The Main Contractor on this one was Bowmer and Kirkland from Derbyshire and it has been a pleasure to be part of their team in this build. There were over 200,000 bricks in this particular building and it took 18 weeks to lay every one of those bricks.
